KAMPALA: A UPDF army officer by the rank of Major has perished in a road accident according to information obtained by this website. The deceased has been identified as Maj. Nsamba Habib Katakabire, 54 years old.
It’s said that Maj Nsamba Habib Katakabire died in this accident that occurred in Mabira along the Jinja-Kampala highway. Further it is said that he was traveling from Jinja to Kampala in an MV No. UBQ 424N Toyota Land cruiser V8.
According to further information, the Major’s car overtook several cars on the road before it collided with a trailer, UBP 644S/UBP 770N. His car crashed beyond recognition and he died on spot.
“Maj. Nsamba Habib Katakabire 54 years, an Army officer has died in an accident that occurred in Mabira on Friday. Maj Nsamba was driving mv No. UBQ 424N Toyota Land cruiser V8 to Jinja from Kampala & overtook several vehicles before colliding with a trailer UBP 644S/UBP 770N.”
From the car’s wreckage, it’s fair to conclude that the army officer was driving at a very terrible high speed. This comes after a series of accidents that have rocked the nation this week.
The highlight of them was when a truck carrying a cement mixer fell on top of a Mitsubishi car in Entebbe along the Nkumba traffic lights. This led to the death of young lawyer, Mr. Raphael Okiot who was occupying the car.

Police have called upon to observe traffic rules and regulations as most of these accidents are avoidable. Most motorists drive recklessly and with a high level of impunity endangering the lives of other road users.
