The Parliament of Uganda is on spot for exonerating Kimanya Kabonera Member of Parliament Abed Bwanika and Joyce Bagala as NUP attempted to reshuffle them. The two are chairs of the Assurances and Implementation Committee and NUP was trying to pull them back.
According to the Opposition Chief whip JB Nambeshe, Abed Bwanika and Joyce Bagala were to be replaced by the Kalungu West MP Joseph Gonzaga SSewungu and Wakiso District Woman MP Betty Ethel Naluyima as the chairs of the Assurances and Implementation Committee.
But surprisingly, Parliament blocked this move as all NRM Members of Parliament voted against the reshuffle and saved the two from facing the unexpected axe. This has since caused a social media uproar as Ugandans now think that it is the NRM government that is shielding their ‘spies’ in NUP.
This attempted reshuffle comes in a time where NUP as led by Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert is a stiff political quagmire from the days of Mathias Mpuuga eating a loot of 500m just 4 months while in office as Leader of Opposition.
This Mpuuga saga has caused a lot of confusion in the party and it is till running the same confusion. It is from this that Abed Bwanika and Joyce Bagala have been put to light as NRM leaning MPs in NUP thus the party trying so hard to get rid of them.

The same Abed Bwanika recently went bare knuckles with the NUP president Kyagulanyi while on an event, and the two exchanged bitterly, this also is a catalyst to Abed Bwanika’s reshuffle. But since parliament has saved them, then the 2026 general election may come to play and judge the sinners and winners.
