KAMPALA: Recently, State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite appeared on her social media handles and busted Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) Director General Mukiza Robert. This was in a way of revealing his dirty dealings in the authority in form of embezzlement and corruption.
That is when she released a secret document that showed how Mukiza and other 8 members shared Ugx545 million as honoraria payments to UIA staff. In the documents released, the Chairperson Board of Directors, Morrison Rwakakamba’s letter he had written to Mukiza was released too and it implicated Mukiza the more.
Now, fresh rot in UIA gets uncovered as Mukiza Robert gets down to be exposed in many scandals at UIA that have been kept a top secret. In these scandals, the UIA Director General is cited in the more than Ugx2bn that allegedly fell through his hands.
For example, there was a document that was written to the IGG Betty Kamya that showed how Mukiza Robert and team were returned Ugx800m was returned to the consolidated fund for a long time, after investigations had not commenced, it was returned on the 19th of January 2024.
In the same vein, there was a payment of Ugx90m that was paid between 2021 to date yet surprisingly there is no contract arising from any procurement process. And this payment goes directly to the Gamers Clan LTD account.
More so, there is a payment that happens under Mukiza Robert’s nose that goes to staff lunch where more staff are allegedly paid than the usual ones and above consumption numbers. And this payment is said to be going directly to MASCOT Group LTD.

More in this leaked document, it is known that UIA under Mukiza Robert paid Ugx92m to Footsteps Furniture for the furniture that was never delivered. These are some of the huge embezzlement cases that have happened at Uganda Investment Authority, and IGG has done some work and much was left hanging in space as the big boys escape scot-free.
