Netizens have been thrown into uncertainty today 5th July 2024 after trucks of the Fire Department were spotted at NBS TV’s Next Media Park. Questions started arising on whether the hub located in Naguru had caught fire.
Some could be seen emanating from one of the building’s floors as the truck operators tried to put it out. The staff were also seen outside gathered in one spot being addressed by the firemen. Since then, news has been spreading like wildfire that a fire had broken out in the area.
However, this website ascertained their truth and it’s not true that a fire had broken out. The station took to its social media pages to reveal that this was a fire drill exercise at NEXT Media Park to prepare its staff in case of any emergencies.
“Next Media in collaboration with the Center for Occupational Safety and Health Uganda Limited has conducted a fire drill at the park to enhance team preparedness for potential fire emergencies. The drill aimed to equip staff with essential skills and knowledge to effectively handle fire incidents, ensuring the safety and security of all employees and visitors.”
Several buildings in and around the city have been gutted by fire and several properties and lives at worst have been lost. And this is largely due to the lack of knowledge on how to handle such critical emergencies.
