Word coming in indicates that the situation for former Mulago Executive Director, Dr. Baterana Byaruhanga is not good at all. This is because besides being gravely sick, security forces are waiting to arrest him to face corruption charges.
It is said that Dr Baterana Byaruhanga is being hospitalized at Kampala Hospital in Kololo. On top of that, President Museveni sent soldiers to arrest him on charges of corruption. It’s not clear if he’s actually sick but some sources claim that he’s just using the hospital as a hiding place.
According to our sources, Policemen are guarding his room until he is discharged. Since his case file is all ready, he will just be put on cuffs and arraigned before a court to hear his charges. Furthermore, our source told us that these Policemen do not sleep at all and there is no way he can survive them.
The Directorate of Public Prosecution sanctioned charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss of about Shs14 billion during the reign of Byarugaba. Apparently, he will be charged with nine other top Mulago officials and service providers.
It is alleged these connived and supplied non-existent services in the form of inflated prices of goods and services. It should also be noted that in 2022, this Dr got interdicted. This led to him handing over office to his deputy, Dr Rosemary Byanyima who is now the ED.
A year later the charges were however dropped. Dr. Baterana Byaruhanga was then reinstated to his position with the full salary by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr Diana Atwine. However, he didn’t get his position back despite awaiting clearance of charges.

As of now, he’s the Deputy Vice Chancellor King Ceasor University. Some unconfirmed sources however claim that Byarugaba’s troubles began when he and a powerful lady at the Ministry of Health crossed each other hence leading to his troubles.
