It is a very trying and hard time as Uganda mourns the death of Tamale Mirundi, a political analyst, veteran journalist and author who died a few minutes into 14th August 2024. He died from Kisubi hospital where he had spent weeks admitted.
Funeral preparations have already begun as his wife, son Tamale Mirundi Junior and a few other family members left Kisubi hospital at 01:30am and headed to their home in Zana. It is further known that, there will be a family meeting in the morning at 7am to arrange more of the funeral.
More to this, State House has sent an ambulance from Uganda Funeral Service to transport Tamale Mirundi’s body to his home in Zana. Now, we can head straight to the cause of death of the former Presidential Advisor.

Exclusively, we have been informed that Tamale Mirundi was admitted initially on high blood pressure related issues. Then recently, doctors diagnosed he had developed Pericardial Effusion (in layman’s language it is called water on the heart) in the side of the heart. This is a buildup of too much fluid in the double layered saclike structure around the heart (pericardium).
It is further informed that, after this issue was diagonised, doctors decided to remove this fluid so that he would normalize. When they started, unfortunately something unusual happened, instead of the fluid coming out, it was the blood that came out.

From this, he was transferred to ICU and several scans were made to ensure he was okay. And after a few hours of this exercise, he died. His wife was besides him, and by the time our reporters reached at Kisubi hospital, most of his children had arrived.
